Ithaca, NY Police Officer Exam Application Deadline Extended to August 7th

Aspiring Officers Looking to Serve On One of Central New York’s Finest Police Departments Encouraged to Apply at www.ipd-recruit.com.

With 15 vacancies, and several more retirements anticipated in the coming months, the labor union representing Ithaca’s law enforcement professionals wants all aspiring police officers to know that there is still time to apply for the upcoming Ithaca, NY Police Officer entrance exam. 

The deadline to apply has been extended to August 7th, 2023 at 4:30 PM.

Nestled at the southern tip of Cayuga Lake in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of Central New York, Ithaca is a vibrant community best known for being the home of Cornell University.  It is an area that provides numerous opportunities for outdoor adventure and recreational activities, making it an ideal place for those aspiring to have a career in law enforcement.

The Ithaca Police Department can best be described as a “small department with big opportunities” that aren’t typically offered by law enforcement agencies of similar size. In addition to earning promotions, officers can enhance their careers through one of the many exciting assignments offered by the department, such as the K9 Unit, SWAT Team, Crime Scene Unit, Bicycle Patrol, Honor Guard, and much more.

Officers also have the ability to grow through many training opportunities including, but not limited to, emergency driving, EMT, firearms, defensive tactics, procedural justice, reality-based training, and more.

Ithaca Police Officers earn an annual salary of $89,884 after 3 years of service. Ample overtime opportunities are available along with health and dental benefits, wellness program, 20 year New York State Police & Fire Retirement System pension benefit, free membership to “The Gym” (2 locations in Ithaca), and access to the NYS Deferred Compensation Plan. Several other benefits are also available.
